She lost her house in an arson attack by IFP supporters, allegedly in co-operation with members of the KwaZulu Police, in Mabhuyeni, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, on 20 February 1994. The perpetrators were returning from a rally to launch an IFP branch in the area. One man was killed and five homes belonging to ANC supporters were burnt down.
