Was shot dead in an ambush by named members of the Security Branch at the intersection of Maricodraai and Dwaalboom Roads in Silent Valley, near Derdepoort border post, Tvl, on 4 May 1983. Information from an unidentified ANC informer made the attack possible. Mr Ramokgopa and another MK operative were killed in the ambush. Several Security Branch members applied for amnesty for the attack.
