Was shot in the head on 2 June 1992 in Dobsonville, Soweto, Johannesburg, allegedly by IFP supporters, during conflict between mainly ANC-supporting residents and IFP-supporting hostel-dwellers. The bullet is still lodged in her head and she is blind as a result of her injuries. Her husband was killed in the attack.
