She lost her home in an arson attack on 7 May 1977 in Maboloka, Bophuthatswana. The attack occurred during violent conflict between two brothers over the chieftainship of Maboloka. The perpetrators were allegedly named members of a gang known as the ‘Sixfeet Group’, supporters of one chief.
