Was severely burnt by ANC supporters in Koppies, OFS, on 6 November 1992, during political conflict in the area. Ms Thube and others were taken before a ‘people’s court’ and were tried and sentenced to death by burning. She managed to escape after being set alight, but died three days later. Two of the alleged perpetrators were charged, convicted and sentenced to death. Their sentences were later commuted to life imprisonment.
