Was assaulted during interrogation by Witwatersrand Security Branch operatives at John Vorster Square, Johannesburg. Was detained in connection with a bomb blast at the Cafe Zurich on 4 October 1987 and was later sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment. One Security Branch operative was granted amnesty (AC/2001/242).
