A-Team (OFS)

Explanation
The A-Team, also known as the 'Phakathis' was a vigilante group set up and headed by a well-known local councillor in the Thabong area of Welkom to counter the activities of the UDF primarily, and in a smaller measure, the ANC. The A-Team carried out a reign of terror in several areas of the province, particularly in Thabong and Parys, under the guise of 'maintaining order'. In at least one case, the A-Team is alleged to have been supported by police and municipal structures.

CHAIRPERSON: Mr Coetser, just to help you out here. I think this applicant has been represented by a team that must rank with one of the more experienced amnesty application teams and if there's at the end of the day a possibility that you're going to have to argue that there was an intervening ...
As the project grew, and as the project ran for a number of years, the control mechanism became a lot better, became much more intimate and the extent to which South African Medical Services interfaced with us became a true working relationship, for example, at the end of the project, or when I ...
MR BERGER: Were you part of the team that okayed this telex?

We were instructed by our superior Officer, Warrant Officer Kruger, to conduct ...
CROSS-EXAMINATION BY MR LALLA: No, I think it's more for comment. I want to state that Mr Greyling, on the night that I was tortured, yes he did fetch a pump. Whether I suffered from asthma it's another story, but under doctor's advice from Mr Botha, he did fetch a pump and on the same night Mr ...
MR BOSCH: Yes, we were a large team going in the evening.
MR CORNELIUS: And you didn't supply a statement to the Special Investigation Team of the Attorney-General's office?

MR NOOSI: Then I think we are talking - I mean there are two incidents that you are talking about. I'm talking about that particular one, I don't know about that one but I mentioned to you that I was part of the interrogation team and I could have participated in interrogation sessions in the ...
