Operation Zero Zero

Explanation
Eight young activists were killed and at least seven were injured in explosions involving booby-trapped hand grenades in Duduza, KwaThema and Tsakane, Tvl, on 26 June 1985. The zero-timed grenades had been provided by a Vlakplaas operative purporting to be an MK operative. The operation, codenamed 'Zero Zero', had been authorised by the Minister of Law and Order. Fifteen Security Branch operatives, including the head of the Security Branch and other senior personnel, were granted amnesty for the operation.

MR LAX: I am not going to waste time, the way you have written it here, is that everybody in the community knew that Msani had sold the brother out, the comrades then planned to kill him. It was after everybody knew, that they planned this operation and that doesn't tie in with your evidence.

MR VISSER: With Gen Kat Liebenberg, did you also believe that it was an authorised operation?
MR BLACK: Now have you any grudges against any of these people who you say were present at the rehearsal and who conducted this operation?
JUDGE PILLAY: I can understand that. I found out now that it happened but here is a brother of a person who was suspected, now why an operation so no one would know?
MR XABA: Sorry. What I meant was I didn’t want the Court to know that my aim of killing this person was because of my organisation’s objectives. It was an operation which I’ve planned.
It is clear that De Kock acted in support of the SB members from Germiston and Witbank.  They were busy with an operation to detect and arrest MK guerrillas who they believed were "hard-core" operatives intent on bombing and other acts of violence.  The deceased was shot while resisting ...
My operation then troubled me, it’s my winds that were troubling me. There were doctors there, every morning I went to doctor it was quite serious. The one policeman had a hammer, he wanted to hit my knuckles with the hammer. I told him that I’m not well. He then said - he then said they must ...
