Description Was arrested with ten friends on 16 June 1986 in Carnavon, Cape, for wearing black ties commemorating those who died in the Soweto uprising. He was repeatedly beaten by named members of the SAP at the police station and detained for seventy two days under emergency regulations in Carnarvon, and then in Victor Verster prison, Paarl, Cape.
