Was shot dead in Phelindaba, Tzaneen, Transvaal, on 4 June 1991 while helping extinguish a fire caused by an arson attack by the Sofasonke Party vigilante group on a neighbour’s home. Ms Chiloane’s niece and several others were injured in the attack. The group targeted residents they believed opposed the Lebowa homeland government.
