Description
Was tear-gassed by police in his vehicle during political protests at Alexander Sinton High School in Athlone, Cape Town, where he served as principal. The tear-gassing injured his lung. Thereafter he was detained on 17 June 1986 for seven weeks, three of which were spent seriously ill in hospital under police guard.
