Was shot and killed on 19 May 1993 when the vehicle in which he was travelling was ambushed at the Mangezi Reserve, near the University of Zululand at Ongoye, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, during ongoing conflict between ANC and IFP supporters in the area.
