FANTI, Mzwandile Wilson

Description
An ANC member who was imprisoned for eight years on Robben Island in 1964 for his political activities. After his release, he was placed under a banning order in Stutterheim, Cape. He was detained in 1981, and again in 1982, for his leading role in campaigning against the incorporation of the Mgwali area into the Ciskei. During his detention, he was tortured at the Cambridge police station, East London. Mr Fanti was eventually acquitted of charges of promoting the ANC.
