Description
As Port Elizabeth Women's Organisation (PEWO) chairperson and ANC supporter, she was severely tortured through beating and suffocation by named members of the Security Police in Port Elizabeth during the state of emergency in July 1985. She was again detained from June 1986 to June 1987. A former Security Police agent was refused amnesty for the petrol bombing of her home (AC/2000/239). See police brutality.
