Was abducted from his home, along with a friend, by self-defence unit (SDU) members and ANC supporters, in the Motsoaledi informal settlement, Transvaal, on 29 March 1994. They were taken to a nearby school in Orlando East, Soweto, Johannesburg, where he was shot and injured and his friend killed. They were suspected of participating in an IFP march that day. One SDU member was granted amnesty (AC/1999/0320).
