An Impumelo Youth Congress member who was severely beaten and stabbed with a sharp object by members of the SAP and Pirates Football Club vigilantes in Leandra, Transvaal, during 1985. Police, in collusion with the vigilantes, constantly harassed Impumelelo Youth Congress members. Mr Madonsela was released but a friend who was attacked with him was detained for a few days.
