He lost his home in an attack in Dindela Village, KwaNdebele, by supporters of Chief JM Mahlangu in July 1975. Chief Mahlangu supported plans for the incorporation of the village into the tribal authority of Lebowa, but many residents resisted resulting in attacks on people and property.
