Was shot and injured by members of the SAP in Mofolo, Soweto, Transvaal, in August 1976 during conflict between hostel-dwellers and township residents. Violence erupted after the State attempted to undermine the Soweto uprising by encouraging hostel-dwellers to attack the community.
