An ANC supporter who was detained for 31 days during 1990 by the Bophutha-tswana Police in Hammanskraal, Transvaal, under emergency regulations, still in force in this area. In 1961 Mr Maloka was deprived of his chieftainship and had his land confiscated. In 1984 when his cattle strayed onto land formerly owned by him, his hand was broken during severe beating by a named perpetrator.
