A UDF supporter who was detained and tortured by members of the Venda Police at Secunda, Venda, in January 1986. Mr Maphaga was involved in the formation of the Northern Transvaal Co-ordinating Committee, a UDF affiliate at a time when people were not allowed to participate in political organisations.
