Description
An ANC supporter who was severely beaten and tortured by members of the Lebowa Police in Motetema, Lebowa, on 9 March 1986 after he was suspected of hatching a plan to topple the Lebowa government. Mr Matlala was arrested at the funeral of an activist. At least six people were shot dead and five wounded when police tried to stop youths entering Motetema for the funeral.
