Was tortured and kept in solitary confinement for three months after his detention in April 1986 at John Vorster Square, Johannesburg. He was then deported and constantly harassed because of his political involvement. In January 1989, he was assaulted at a meeting of the National Education Crisis Committee meeting by Inkatha members.
