Was detained and tortured by named policemen at Protea police station, Soweto, Johannesburg, and at John Vorster Square, Johannes-burg, in 1977. During his detention he was kept naked and in solitary confinement for six months. In 1981, Mr Mbatha, his wife and their three-year-old daughter were arrested. He was tortured in various police stations in the Transvaal, and deprived of food and medical attention.
