Was hacked on 24 June 1992 while sleeping at her home in Ratanda, Heidelberg, Transvaal, by IFP supporters who claimed they were sent by management of the factory where her husband was on strike. The area was tense due to a labour dispute between striking COSATU-aligned FAWU workers and non-striking IFP-aligned UWUSA workers which caused violent conflict in the area.
