An ANCYL member who was arrested and detained at St Alban`s prison, Port Elizabeth, on 1 March 1985 during the state of emergency. A cell protest about poor prison conditions resulted in him being beaten with batons. His eye was severely injured and he was hospitalised for three months. See police brutality.
