She had her home in Katlehong, Transvaal, petrol-bombed on 12 August 1993, allegedly by IFP members during ongoing political conflict in the area. An eight- year-old relative was also injured in the incident when she was shot while trying to flee the burning house. Members of the ISU were allegedly present during the attack but did not intervene.
