Was shot and injured by IFP supporters in Mooi River, Natal, on 29 August 1991. Members of his family had sought refuge at a local college because of political conflict between residents and hostel-dwellers in Bruntville, near Mooi River. They were attacked at the college. Two family members were killed in the attack and two others were shot and injured. See Bruntville attacks.
