He had his home burnt down by IFP supporters at Mabhuyeni, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, on 17 April 1992 in continuing political conflict between IFP and ANC supporters in the area. His son, an ANC supporter, was abducted and stabbed to death by IFP supporters on the same day.
