A UDF supporter and leader of KwaMashu Youth League who was detained in Scottburgh, Natal, on 25 January 1985. While in detention, he was severely tortured, repeatedly beaten, and teargassed in his cell, allegedly because of his political activities. He was charged with attempting to leave the country. He fled into exile while out on bail.
