Was stabbed and burnt to death with his brother on 16 December 1989 in Inanda, near KwaMashu, Durban, in intensifying political conflict between UDF and Inkatha supporters in the area. A crowd of unidentified people attacked and killed the brothers after their vehicle broke down.
