Seven TDF soldiers were killed and some 33 wounded. Four of the coup conspirators were granted amnesty. Six Vlakplaas operatives were granted amnesty for providing arms for the attempted coup. IFP supporters, on their way home from a funeral, allegedly killed an elderly resident, and Mr Nyawane was shot dead in retaliation, during a fierce battle that erupted between ANC and IFP supporters.
