Thirty South Africans and 12 citizens of Lesotho were killed in the midnight attack. Ms Ngcobo had purchased land on the edge of an ANC area in Umlazi, and had been harrassed by Inkatha supporters who branded her an ANC supporter. This attack occurred when members of the KwaZulu Police responded to a call for help.
