She had her house and possessions burnt down during intensifying conflict between UDF and Inkatha supporters at Trust Feeds, New Hanover, near Pietermaritzburg, on 1 December 1988. The following day, police withdrew their presence from the area in preparation for the Trust Feeds massacre, which took place on 3 December.
