He died after he was attacked by known ANC supporters at a community meeting in Kabokwane, KaNgwane, on the 24 March 1991. Mr Nyalunga was invited to the meeting but was killed because of his support for a chief to whom ANC supporters were opposed. One of the perpetrators applied for amnesty.
