Was severely injured when she was stabbed and hacked by members of an IFP patrol group at her house in Nyandezulu, near Port Shepstone, Natal, on 8 March 1991. Other family members were also severely injured or killed by the perpetrators, who were looking for her brother, an ANC supporter. Ms Nzimande is now partially disabled. The perpetrators were sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonnment.
