Was seriously injured when the car in which he and his family were travelling detonated a landmine planted by MK operatives on a road in Karino, Nelspruit, Transvaal , on 17 August 1986. His mother and brother were killed and another brother was seriously injured. The attack formed part of‘Operation Cetshwayo’, an MK landmine campaign in the Eastern Transvaal . Three MK operatives were granted amnesty (AC/2000/111). See ANC land mine campaign.
