Was seriously injured when the car in which he and his family were travelling detonated a landmine planted by MK operatives on a road in Karino, Nelspruit, Transvaal , on 17 August 1986. His mother and brother were killed, and another brother was seriously injured. The attack formed part of ‘Operation Cetshwayo’, an MK landmine campaign in the Eastern Transvaal. Three MK operatives were granted amnesty (AC/2000/111). See ANC land mine campaign.
