Was shot and killed by a named perpetrator while playing outside her home in Sebokeng, Tvl, on 3 January 1987. The perpetrator was employed by the security forces and prior to this incident, had killed another person. On the day of that funeral, his house was petrol- bombed. The perpetrator responded by firing randomly at the crowd and killing Melodi.
