Was shot and killed by members of the Black Cats at her home in Wesselton, Ermelo, Transvaal , in 1991. The attackers sought to kill Ms Shongwe’s son, but could not find him. One perpetrator, then a member of the Black Cats, who later defected to the ANC, was granted amnesty (AC/98/0121).
