Was shot and injured in Tokoza, Tvl, on 22 May 1993 by a group of armed attackers, allegedly IFP supporters, who came to her shop and randomly opened fire, killing her brother and seriously injuring her young cousin. Earlier that day nine people were killed and 69 injured in clashes between ANC and IFP supporters and police. Violence erupted after a group of unidentified gunmen fired at Tokoza hostel during an ANC march to present a petition at the Alberton police station.
