Was abducted and beaten by ANC supporters in Kroonstad, OFS, in February 1991, following his acquittal on a charge of killing an ANC ‘comrade’. He then joined the Three Million gang. In June 1991, Mr Toli was detained, beaten and tortured by members of the SAP, allegedly because he had information about the activities of the gang.
