Was injured in Mmabatho, Bophuthatswana, during an attempted coup d’etat on 10 February 1988. The coup was brought to an end when the SADF came to the assistance of the Bophuthatswana government. Two Bophuthatswana Defence Force (BDF) members were granted amnesty for their role in the attempted coup (AC/2000/044).
