Was shot and killed by named members of the Riot Squad in Bellville, Cape Town, on 29 August 1985. The policemen hid in a garden and then leapt out, opening fire on protesters and bystanders alike. Several women were also seriously injured in the shooting that took place in the aftermath of the Pollsmoor march. See Pollsmoor march.
