Was issued with a banning order in May 1982 in Butterworth, Transkei, restricting him to the Nqamakwe area for three years. In November 1977, Mr Vanda had been kept in solitary confinement in Idutywa, Transkei, and in December 1986 he was assaulted in detention by members of the Transkei Police and SAP in the Transkei.
