A BCM activist was arrested and beaten by members of the SAP after participating in a protest march in Cradock, Cape, in September 1977. On 5 October 1977, she was kicked and beaten by police members who forced her to make a confession in an arson attack. Later that month, she was stripped naked and locked into a wet police van for five hours. She was convicted and sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and released on 28 November 1981.
