Her house was burnt down in Mevamhlophe, KwaZulu, near Empangeni, Natal, on 2 March 1993, in ongoing conflict between IFP and ANC supporters. The family was perceived to be supporting the ANC. Her twenty nine year old daughter was shot dead in the same incident.
