A COSATU supporter who was forced to flee his home in Gezubuso, KwaZulu, near Pietermaritzburg, in 1985, as a result of repeated intimidation by IFP supporters. Mr Zondi had been dismissed from BTR-Sarmcol rubber factory for participating in a strike. At the time, there was intense local conflict between Inkatha and COSATU/MAWU members following the 1985 Sarmcol strike. See Sarmcol strike.
