Was abducted and detained by members of the Bloemfontein Security Branch between 1990 and 1991. During this time, he was repeatedly and severely tortured. His brother was detained at the same time and similarly tortured. A former APLA member, turned askari, was granted amnesty for the torture (AC/2001/038).
