He had his house destroyed by members of the SAP in Lenyenye, Lebowa, on 4 August 1981 during an attempt by the Gazankulu government to force his community to move and be placed under a new chieftainship. Those who resisted the removal were arrested and fined for residing unlawfully in the area.
