He had his houses in KwaKhoza, KwaZulu, near Eshowe, Natal, burnt down during November 1993, when IFP supporters carried out several attacks on ANC supporters in the KwaKhoza and Nogobhoza areas. One person was killed and more than 45 homes burnt down, allegedly under the direction of the local IFP-supporting chief, who wished to purge the area of ANC supporters.
